MSI offers three different standard types of plate magnets in order to optimize removal of tramp metal from product (Flush pole, Pampeel pole, Raised pole). The plate magnets utilize ceramic or rare earth magnet depending on the strength required.

Product Flow Characteristics Determine Necessary Size of Magnet
Often referred to as a "Hammermill Magnet", Self-Cleaning Plate Magnets open automatically on a timer as needed. A scrapper plate drops the tramp material into a chute or other container. These magnets, per their nick-name, are great for protecting downstream equipment such as hammermills.
MSI’s magnetic chute separator is ideal for extracting ferrous tramp metal from high volumes of dry product flowing vertically through a chute. Each unit utilizes two powerful permanent magnets, a drawer assembly and a product flow diverter. The two magnets are mounted on opposite sides of a bottomless drawer assembly. The product flow diverter is mounted above and along the centerline of the drawer in parallel to the two magnets.
As the product flows down the chute, it is redirected by the diverter toward the magnets. The deep magnetic reach of the two magnets draws the ferrous metal toward the magnet and out of the product flow.
Available with wedge magnet in center for large chutes
The Wedge in Chute Magnet allows for superior separation of material in free flowing or choke fed vertical flow applications. The product enters the wedge in chute housing which divides the flow into two separate chambers on either side of the chute. Each chamber has extra heavy duty magnets on the inside and outside of the flow, which separates and holds onto the targeted tramp metal until cleaned by the easy pull drawer. The wedge in chute magnet is also used when the chute dimensions are too large for a standard chute separation.
The wedge in chute magnet is available in both easy manual clean and self-cleaning versions. It is also available in ceramic and rare earth magnet material.
